EMR, GA and WMT under Transport UK Group ownership
The management buyout of Abellio UK’s rail and bus operations has been concluded, with the new company called Transport UK Group.
It will run the East Midlands Railway, Greater Anglia and West Midlands Trains franchises, as well as Merseyrail in partnership with Serco. It will also operate buses in London retaining the Abellio name.
Transport UK Group’s Managing Director Dominic Booth, who led the buyout, said: ‘We are thrilled to return key public transport services back into UK ownership. While our name will change to Transport UK Group, our values remain the same. We will continue to play a key role in the country’s transport sector, ensuring the provision of our award-winning services to passengers around the UK and driving innovation to develop a low-emission UK transport network.’
