Pacers are old buses on rails which should have been consigned to a transport museum long ago. Not my words but those of Mayors Dan Jarvis of Sheffield and Andy Burnham of Manchester, plus the leader of Leeds City Council Judith Blake.

These assembled Labour grandees of the North were yet again putting the boot in to Northern, this time saying that it is ‘unacceptable’ that Pacers will be continuing in use for a short while into 2020 and demanding that ‘fares should be reduced for passengers who are having to travel on Pacer trains’.
