Isn’t it strange? For the first time since I started travelling to school by train at the age of 10 all those years ago, like many of you, I have not been near a railway station, let alone a train, for nearly two months. And it could be a few more before we do again. Not even the sound of a whistle or a Black Five working hard drifting across the moors on a westerly wind from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, currently closed, hoping to reopen in July but nevertheless in deep financial difficulty.
