Amey acquires Carillion rail contracts

AMEY RAIL Ltd has acquired a significant number of Carillion’s Network Rail contracts, after the company went into liquidation in January. The contracts include IP (Infrastructure Projects) Central Panel work for the East Coast and Midland main lines, Crossrail (Old Oak to Paddington area), plain line track renewals and the North West Electrification Programme. NR says the sale is likely to safeguard over 700 jobs and provide security for companies in the supply chain.

NR adds that it continues to work closely with the official receiver’s special manager PwC to seek long-term transition arrangements for the remaining contracts and staff; while this process is ongoing, the remaining contracts continue to be delivered under NR’s arrangement with PwC to enable an orderly transition.
