Greater Anglia Managing Director JAMIE BURLES updates PHILIP SHERRATT on progress with the operator’s modernisation plan
The rail network in East Anglia is in the throes of change. Greater Anglia is now over three years into a nine-year franchise which includes ambitious plans to replace every train and provide faster and more frequent services on a number of routes across the region.
There has been no shortage of obstacles so far, with delays to the introduction of new trains and infrastructure issues affecting potential timetable enhancements. But with two of the three new train types in service and plans for a timetable recast becoming clearer, GA’s Managing Director Jamie Burles remains positive about the improvements already delivered and still to come.
