TO BE OR NOT TO BE? ‘Strat’ is the question…

There aren’t many Restoring your Railway fund bids which seek to reinstate former main lines. But that is precisely what the Cotswold Line Promotion Group, Shakespeare Line Promotion Group, Solihull and Leamington Rail Users Association and the Stratford Rail Transport Group have been seeking to do for many years.

They want to reinstate six miles of railway from Stratford to Long Marston (connecting with the Cotswold line at Honeybourne). It was once part of a through route to Cheltenham, some of which is now occupied by the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway between Cheltenham Racecourse and Broadway. The results of their campaigning will finally be seen when the RyR-funded Strategic Outline Business Case (SOBC) is published later this year.
