PHILIP SHERRATT visited CAF’s factory at Newport ahead of its official opening on 21 February
Train building in the UK is on the rise. CAF’s contribution to this trend is its new facility located at the Celtic Business Park near Newport in South Wales. The factory opened its doors in September 2018 and has been building Civity DMUs for first Northern and now West Midlands Trains. A formal event to mark the opening was due to take place on 21 February, after this issue went to press, but prior to the event Modern Railways was invited to visit the site and see production in progress.
