CAPACITY INVESTMENTS PAYING OFF

Overcrowding in the peaks is reducing as new infrastructure and rolling stock come on stream, reports THEO STEEL

The Department for Transport’s 2018 crowding report has recently been published. It is based on train load sampling in October 2018 at terminals and takes in locations like Clapham Junction, Stratford and Elephant & Castle by adopting a cordon approach. The report confirms the 3% increase in journeys in 2018-19 compared with the previous year that has already been reported by the Office of Rail and Road.
