For many months this column has reported on fleeting references in official Transport for London literature that have hinted at the underlying difficulties facing those tasked with delivering Crossrail on time and on budget.
Difficulties are, of course, inherent with any major rail project. Those at the controls know it’s best not to make too much noise about them as public perceptions of benefits to come can quickly be forgotten with a few bad headlines. Anyway, difficulties can be addressed and, with a little time and luck, resolved.
