Coventry-Leamington works planned

Viaduct and track upgrades to take place

Network Rail is planning an eight-day programme of works on the Coventry-Leamington Spa line, and between Heyford and Oxford between 29 July and 6 August.

A viaduct over the river Avon near Leamington Spa will be upgraded with damaged and missing bricks replaced, mortar repointed, and arches strengthened.

Other work includes renewal of 2.2 miles of track at Banbury, installation of a 47-metre-long bridge at Kenilworth to accommodate High Speed 2 underneath and resignalling works at Oxford to prepare for East West Rail. On the latter, signal cables will be re-routed, high-speed crossovers installed and Osney Lane footbridge altered to accommodate EWR tracks being installed in 2024.
