WORK WAS due to begin in November to repair four breakwaters along the Dawlish sea wall stretch in Devon. Due to take six months, the work is being carried out by Network Rail and BAM Nuttall to breakwaters at Boat Cove, Coastguards Point, Colonnade Underpass and Langstone Rock, which were identiied as being in a poor state of repair. In parallel with this work, Arcadis will continue to investigate whether loose material from the top of the clif above Parsons Tunnel at Holcombe may be removed to stabilise the clif and reduce the risk of land slips in the short-term. NR notes work continues with the £15 million programme to develop long-term options for safeguarding the railway as part of its South West Rail Resilience Programme.
