Site clearance has started on the site of Exeter’s £16 million Marsh Barton station, with opening expected at the end of 2022. It is a core element of the Devon Metro scheme in the Exeter area.

The long-planned station will provide access to a key employment area of Exeter, serving more than 7,000 workers. Site clearance is now under way before construction begins.

Clapperbrook Lane East will close to vehicular traffic for 16 months from the end of May, although it will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists. The project, which is being built by Graham Construction Ltd, includes a new pedestrian and cycling bridge connecting to the station and improving car-free access between Alphington, Marsh Barton and the Riverside Valley Park.
