It was interesting to read James Abbott’s advocacy of improving the North Downs line (‘Welcome’, last month). But I do feel his article would have been enhanced if he had referred to the Route Utilisation Studies that have been conducted concerning this route – Sussex RUS, subsequently amended by the Great Western RUS, both in 2010.
