In ‘Informed Sources’ (last month), ORR’s approach to electrical clearances is called ‘irrational’. The article suggested present industry difficulties in delivering electrification projects on budget and to timescales are solely attributable to matters of electrical safety, and ORR’s ‘interpretation’ of statutory requirements. This characterisation is inaccurate and unfair and I would like to address some of the points made.
