Four-day closure at Tyseley for Commonwealth Games

Tyseley TMD, access to which is being upgraded ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

No trains will run between Solihull, Birmingham Moor Street and Birmingham Snow Hill between 20-23 June to allow switches and crossings providing access to Tyseley Depot to be replaced.

With Chiltern, CrossCountry and West Midlands Railway using the depot, infrastructure problems there could cause major problems: more than a million extra journeys across the West Midlands rail network are expected to be made during the Commonwealth Games, which take place in and around Birmingham from 28 July to 8 August.

In addition to replacing points, new rails, sleepers and ballast will be installed in the area, overgrown plants and graffiti will be removed, and Moor Street station will receive a deep clean.
