Glass from Tilbury

THE FIRST train of bulk glass has been loaded at the Port of Tilbury.

1,200 tonnes of raw glass cullet, processed from a new recycling facility at the port run by URM UK, was moved by train to Cheshire in the first shipment under a long-term supply agreement. The cullet is produced from glass across the south of England, predominantly from kerbside collections as well as bottle banks.

The port took possession of the rail terminal this year, and has reconfigured the site to create a dedicated bulk materials rail terminal for recycled and construction materials.

Bound for Cheshire: cullet is loaded at Tilbury.
