Goodbye to the ‘Y’… for now?

The Integrated Rail Plan curtailed HS2’s eastern leg to Leeds at East Midlands Parkway. But as DAN HARVEY explains, it might not be the end of ambitions for the full high-speed network

So, it's goodbye to the ‘Y’. Adonis, Hammond, Greening, McLoughlin – you all saw something in this twin-pronged approach to bringing high-speed rail from London to the north of England which positioned Manchester and Leeds as equals with fast, next-generation transport links to the capital.
