Goole gets going

Rail centre of excellence in the making: Siemens’ Goole site.

Construction of Siemens’ new £200 million rolling stock plant in Goole, East Yorkshire, is getting underway. Building firm C. R. Reynolds began enabling works on the site in the summer, making a car park and beginning work on underground services. Main construction is expected to get going imminently. 

The site, where new trains for London Underground’s Piccadilly Line will be assembled, is intended to act as a centre of excellence for rail engineering, with an innovation hub adjacent to the factory building.
