GTR extends e-ticketing to 14 more stations

Govia Thameslink Railway has installed smartphone e-ticket readers at 14 more stations on its network. The new readers allow passengers to scan e-tickets displayed on their smartphones or printed at home.

Readers have been added to Harpenden, Hatfield, Hertford North, Hove, Horley, Potters Bar, Merstham, Radlett, Redhill, Reigate and Welwyn Garden City stations. Bexhill, Epsom and Polegate stations will follow by the end of the month.

GTR says e-ticket sales have risen from 25% of UK rail revenues pre-pandemic to 33% now, driven at least in part by their contactless capability.
