NEW OPEN access operator Grand Union Railway is seeking to begin a new service between London and Cardiff using Class 91 locomotives and Mk 4 carriages released by LNER.
The proposed service, which would be subject to regulatory approval, comprises hourly workings leaving London Paddington at 35 minutes past the hour from 07.35 to 21.35, with departures from Cardiff hourly from 06.35 to 19.35. Trains would call at Bristol Parkway, Severn Tunnel Junction and Newport, with a journey time of 1hr 45min. The Class 91s would haul nine Mk 4 coaches and a driving van trailer.
Grand Union was founded by Ian Yeowart, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, in 2018.
