Greater Anglia has introduced its first Stadler Flirt bi-mode units into passenger service. Four-car unit No 755410 was the first of the type to carry passengers on 29 July, working the 07.47 Lowestoft to Norwich service. It was followed on 2 August by No 755418, while both units worked in passenger service on 5 August.

The Flirts initially displaced the short set comprising Class 37 locos and Mk 2 coaches which GA has hired in recent years to cover for a lack of available DMUs, working trips between Norwich and Great Yarmouth/Lowestoft, although the loco-hauled set was still available to GA on an ad-hoc basis until the end of August. GA has 58 trains on order from Stadler as part of a £600 million investment financed by Rock Rail.
