KENILWORTH OPENING DELAY

New Kenilworth station: a CrossCountry Voyager forms a service from Manchester Piccadilly to Bournemouth as it passes under the new footbridge on 14 November 2017. The stairs and lifts will be mothballed, as the second platform will not be needed until (and if) Network Rail confirms the redoubling of the Milverton Junction to Kenilworth section of the line that was suspended in the Hendy Review. OPENING OF the new station at Kenilworth, planned for 10 December, has been delayed. The aim now is to open the station in February, but this is dependent on completion of construction of the station itself and the granting of track access rights for operator West Midlands Trains to introduce an hourly service between Coventry and Leamington. At the time of WMT’s launch event on 11 December, neither was in place.
