Ketton bridge reopens after being hit

A bridge on the Leicester-Peterborough line has been reopened by Network Rail three weeks after it was heavily damaged by a lorry.

Engineers built and installed a new deck and laid ballast and track in less than three weeks, with the route reopening on 23 November.

Network Rail says bridge strikes cost it almost £12 million in delay and cancellation fees in 2021/22, and that it has started a ‘Wise Up, Size up’ campaign to encourage drivers to know their route and vehicle height before every journey.
