Vegetation clearance underway: this is a view at Cameron Bridge looking west towards Thornton, with the former main running line to Leven on the right-hand side of the former island platform. The line on the left-hand side, the former up line, ceased to be a loop when the point at the east end of the station was removed many years ago and it now ends at a buffer stop. Over on the extreme left is track that is still in situ that once served sidings either side of the loading bank; these were used until the end of the daily Enterprise freight from Mossend that served the distillery. NETWORK RAIL has launched a new Levenmouth project site (ScotlandsRailway.com/projects) as it proceeds with planning the reinstatement of the railway between Leven and Thornton North Junction on the Dundee to Edinburgh main line. When complete the link will permit a through train service to the Scottish capital from an area of coastal Fife that currently has poor public transport connectivity, unlocking access to education, culture, entertainment and employment options.
