Lumo seeks Glasgow paths

FirstGroup-owned open access operator Lumo says it is in discussions with Transport Scotland and Network Rail to extend some of its London – Edinburgh trains to Glasgow.

The announcement follows LNER’s decision to withdraw its infrequent Glasgow services, and Lumo hopes to start running to Scotland’s second city from summer 2025. It claims a ‘significant number’ of its passengers to Edinburgh connect to other trains to Glasgow.

No route nor journey times have been announced, and Lumo says it will operate the service – if approved – using its existing fleet of Class 803 Hitachi EMUs.
