Luton DART prepares for first passengers

Trial operations to start on 10 March

Luton Airport’s DART people mover is expected to carry its first passengers on 10 March.

A restricted timetable between Luton Airport Parkway station and Luton Airport will operate initially for around four hours a day, with full 24-hour commercial operations due to begin around the end of the month, although a final date is still to be confirmed.

The journey time is just over three minutes and DART will replace the existing bus transfer service. King Charles III travelled on the system on 6 December 2022. Transfer is included in any rail ticket to Luton Airport.

Concessionary bus pass holders will be able to travel free on the system, while Luton residents will be able to apply in advance for half-price travel. During the trial period, passengers with tickets for the existing bus transfer will be able to travel on DART for no additional charge: once fully open, fares will be £4.90 each way.
