A PARTNERSHIP led by Westminster City Council is to develop a masterplan for the area surrounding London’s Victoria station.
The council is working with Victoria Business Improvement District (BID), Network Rail, the Greater London Authority, Transport for London, landowners and the local community to develop ‘Future Victoria’, covering the area around and behind the station. An architect-led team has been commissioned to look at the area and set a framework to guide future change, which is led by Allies and Morrison and includes Weston Williamson + Partners, Mott MacDonald, Snapdragon at PLMR and Avison Young.
Among the aims of the project are making the station and interchange easier to use and improving the quality of the streets and spaces around the station. The plan will also consider safeguarding of sites for the proposed Crossrail 2 project and the future of Victoria coach station. The council’s City Plan identifies Victoria as an opportunity area which could deliver at least 1,000 new homes and 4,000 new jobs by 2040.
