Mayor Khan reopens LU’s Bank branch

The new concourse at London Underground's Bank station.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan officially reopened the Bank branch of London Underground’s Northern Line on 16 May.

The route had been closed for 17 weeks to complete a new southbound tunnel and expand the concourse at the busy station. The southbound platform has also been widened to accommodate growing passenger numbers.

Upgrade work is due to finish later this year including provision of step-free access to the Northern Line, improved access to Docklands Light Railway platforms, two moving walkways, 12 new escalators and two new lifts. There will also be a new entrance on Cannon Street.
