Most Merseyrail services are to return to 15-minute frequency at least at peak times from May 2.
The operator says that the removal of Covid restrictions and greater availability of staff mean it is able to resume operating more frequent trains.
On the Southport line, trains will run every 15 minutes from the start to end of service, while on all others apart from Ellesmere Port the 15-minute frequency runs between 07.00 and 19.00 with a 30-minute service outside those hours. On the latter route, trains will run every 30 minutes with extra trains running between 07.15 and 08.30 and 16.30 and 17.30. A 30-minute service will operate on Sundays across all lines.
