NEW BRIDGE INSTALLED IN LEE VALLEY

Infrastructure News

NETWORK RAIL’S Lee Valley Rail Programme in north east London continues to make progress, with the latest milestone being the opening of a new footbridge over the West Anglia main line.

Replacing a level crossing, the bridge provides a better link between the Lee Valley Park to the east and White Hart Lane and Northumberland Park to the west.

Step-free ramps have been installed at Northumberland Park station for passengers crossing the railway, while lifts on the footbridge are expected to come into use in the coming months to provide step-free access to the new island platforms at the station.

The programme is seeing a third track installed between Lea Bridge and a new station at Meridian Water, which is to replace the little-used station at Angel Road, with an additional two trains per hour to be provided. Network Rail is carrying out the work in conjunction with principal contractor VolkerFitzpatrick.
