NEW TRAIN TIN-WATCH

While the South Western Railway Class 707s still top the Moving Annual Average Miles per Technical Incident (MTIN) league table, with double the number of sets in service a more representative performance saw their MTIN in Period 10 fall behind their sister fleet at Govia Thameslink Railway, where the Class 700s recorded their best period to date. Also with a new Period best was the Crossrail Class 345 fleet.

Nine-car bi-mode: Class 800/3 unit No 800302 approaches Swindon with a North Pole to Stoke Gifford via Paddington test run. The train diverted from its booked route via Bristol Temple Meads and operated via Bristol East Junction and Stapleton Road to reach Bristol Parkway and Stoke Gifford. The Class 800/3s are painted in green livery rather than having green vinyl applied over a base grey body, which considerably improves the look of the bodywork. Colin J. Marsden
