ONE NETWORK FOR THE WEST MIDLANDS

TFL-STYLE BRANDING IS PLANNED FOR THE BIRMINGHAM CONURBATION, AS TONY MILES REVEALS

Network branding: the liveries proposed for trains, buses and trams in the West Midlands.

Creation of integrated transport networks has long been an ambition of local authorities. So it is in the West Midlands, where a vision for a single rail network is emerging.

In turn this forms part of a bigger plan that involves bringing buses and trams together with rail into a single brand package. The intention is to emulate Transport for London’s concept of having the same recognisable symbol for all travel in the area. Thus, rather than having logos and colour schemes which change periodically, the intention is to adopt a branding which will be long-lasting, which has a strong emotional connection for its users and is synonymous with the city it serves.
