ROMANIA

A new open access overnight service between Arad and Bucharest started on 2 February. The service is operated by Astra Trans Carpatic, a subsidiary of rail engineering firm Astra, whose new vehicles are used to operate the train. Electric locos to operate the service are provided by private operator Servtrans. Services run daily, and the vehicles used – a mix of seated and sleeper cars – are new, offering a more modern travelling environment than the competing overnight services provided by national rail operator CFR Calatori.
