Record producer and railway enthusiast Pete Waterman will officially open Modern Railways EXPO 2022 in Milton Keynes on the morning of Tuesday 22 November.
Mr Waterman will attend the show in his role as President of the Railway Benefit Fund. After the official opening, he and CrossCountry Managing Director Tom Joyner will join with Modern Railways Editor Philip Sherratt to announce the total raised for RBF from the charity railtour run by CrossCountry and Modern Railways on 27 September. The railtour celebrated 40 years of HSTs on CrossCountry’s North East to South West route and 60 years of Modern Railways magazine.
Last month, the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, the venue for Modern Railways EXPO 2022, played host to Pete Waterman’s Making Tracks II model railway layout. The layout, which represents the Kilsby Tunnel to Hilmorton Junction stretch of the West Coast main line, was a headline exhibit at The Great Electric Train Show, the model railway show organised by Modern Railways’ sister title Hornby Magazine.
Modern Railways Editor Philip Sherratt said: ‘It will be a privilege to welcome Pete Waterman to officially open our show on 22 November. Pete’s passion for the railway is well-known. As the culmination of our 60th anniversary celebrations, it is fitting that Modern Railways EXPO 2022 should be the place where we announce the total raised from our hugely successful charity railtour with CrossCountry in September.’
Modern Railways EXPO takes place on 22-23 November at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes. Visitor registration is free and is open now at www.modernrailways.com/expo.
