Rail Industry Recovery Group sets out framework for reform

A new Rail Industry Recovery Group formed of franchised passenger train operators and trades unions has signed a framework agreement to identify and address areas and issues to cut the operating costs of the railway and ensure a sustainable rail industry.

Trades union members are Aslef, the RMT, TSSA and Unite, joined by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd, Avanti West Coast, Chiltern Railways, Cross Country Trains, Greater Anglia, Gatwick Express, London North Eastern Railway, East Midlands Railway, Essex Thameside, Great Western Railway, Northern Railway, South Eastern Railway, South Western Railway, Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern Railways, TransPennine Express and West Midlands Railway. 

The Enabling Framework Agreement (EMA) covers employment security measures, investing in people, creating a modern and inclusive workforce, revising working arrangements and practices, and enhanced ways of working.
