Strikes cancelled after Queen’s death

Planned actions for September delayed in mark of respect

Rail strikes planned by the RMT on 15/17 September, ASLEF on 15 September, and the TSSA on 26/27 September have been postponed as a mark of respect following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September.

In a statement, RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch said: ‘The RMT joins the whole nation in paying its respects to Queen Elizabeth. The planned railway strike action on 15 and 17 September is suspended. We express our deepest condolences to her family, friends and the country.’

The TSSA expressed similar sentiments, adding: ‘The TSSA is cancelling planned industrial action for September and will be respecting the period of public mourning. The union pays respect to Britain’s longest serving monarch.’
