Services resume after Lingfield landslip repairs

Engineers restore two of four tracks to service

South Western Railway resumed train services between London Waterloo and the South Coast and South West on 23 January following emergency repairs to a landslip at Lingfield the week before.

Network Rail and BAM Nuttall engineers stabilised the site and modified the track layout so a pair of tracks could open on the quadruple-track section pending full repairs.

Services to Exeter St Davids, Salisbury, Weymouth, Bournemouth, Southampton Central, Winchester and Portsmouth Harbour via Eastleigh ran with reduced frequency, although trains from London were unable to call at Hook.
