Severn Valley HST will make two return trips to Bridgnorth!

Don’t miss out on the chance to be part of the first visit by an HST to the Severn Valley Railway for more than 20 years and join the special railtour organised by Modern Railways and CrossCountry on Tuesday 27 September. Those purchasing tickets for the full trip will be able to enjoy two full trips along the length of the SVR from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth or the option of time exploring either of these locations.

The trip celebrates 60 years of Modern Railways magazine and 40 years of HSTs on CrossCountry’s North East to South West route. The HST will run from Leeds to Kidderminster in the morning, with a stops en-route at Wakefield Westgate, Doncaster, Sheffield, Derby and Birmingham New Street to pick up passengers. Tickets are priced at £100 for standard class travel regardless of boarding point. For full details of timings visit our website at www.modernrailways.com/railtour. Proceeds from the trip will go to the Railway Benefit Fund, which supports current and former railway employees facing hardship through financial assistance and practical help and advice.

On arrival at Kidderminster, one of the two CrossCountry power cars will be named to mark the HST anniversary, while in the opposite platform GB Railfreight’s No 66745, currently named Modern Railways – the first 50 years, will be rededicated to mark the magazine’s 60th anniversary.

Those joining the full railtour will have the option of joining one or both of the two trips the HST will then make from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth and return. This means participants have the option to spend time in either of place; at Kidderminster tours of the SVR depot will be available (advance booking will be required). The return HST departure for Leeds will be at approximately 18.30, with drop-off points at the same locations as on the morning trip.

For full details of timings and ticket sales visit www.modernrailways.com/railtour. The SVR is also retailing a limited number of First Class tickets for the first of the two round trips to Bridgnorth, which departs at 12.45. These cover the Kidderminster to Bridgnorth return trip only and do not include travel to and from the railway; they can be purchased from the SVR website.
