‘Why did you build such a small train?’ That was the frequent refrain facing Stefan Rosendahl and his Stadler colleagues as visitors to the InnoTrans trade show in Berlin got a first look at the new offering for Glasgow’s underground. Many visitors to the show, unfamiliar with the Subway’s unique four-foot track gauge and 3.4-metre tunnel diameter, were perplexed to find a train they could not stand up straight in.
