Capacity is being raised by a third on London Underground’s sub- surface network. This is an important boost for London’s public transport as the sub-surface lines – the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan – encompass about 40% of the Underground system. They carry 1.3 million passengers per day, which is 25% of the overall LU ridership.
