CITY CENTRE EXTENSION FOR STOCKHOLM’S ROSLAGSBANAN

Plans to extend Stockholm’s 891mm-gauge Roslagsbanan network into the city centre have been announced. A new tunnel will take the line from the current terminus at Stockholms Östra (east) into the city centre via Odenplan for connections to the Tunnelbana metro system and new Citybanan cross city services. The Roslagsbanan network has been extensively modernised in recent years with new alignments and upgraded infrastructure. Arriva currently operates services under contract to Storstockholms Lokaltrafik. A typical train is seen at Stockholms Östra on 27 April 2018; these are due to be replaced by a new fleet of Stadler-built trains from 2020. Keith Fender
