MATTERHORN GOTTHARD BAHN TO MODERNISE RACK ELECTRICS
The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn has decided to retain and fully modernise nine of its 13 metre-gauge type HGe 4/4 II rack-fitted electric locos, most of which date from 1990. The operator had previously tendered (in 2015) for refurbishment of the whole fleet, but the cost was prohibitive. Loco No 106 arrives at Andermatt on 4 August 2017 with a westbound Glacier Express service to Zermatt.
