TfW signs GCRE deal

Storage and training facilities could be used

Transport for Wales has signed heads of terms with the Global Centre of Rail Excellence to become a major commercial client at the test centre, which is under construction.

In addition to testing, research and development and innovation, TfW will be able to use other GCRE services including storage, training and product approvals in the future.

When complete, the facility will include two 25kV AC electrified test loops, one of which will be a 6.9km-long high-speed track and the other a 4km-long infrastructure test track.

Preparing for TfW: GCRE Chief Executive Simon Jones and TfW counterpart James Price mark the signing of an agreement to use the facility.
