A DIGEST OF THE MAIN CHANGES ON NETWORK RAIL, LONDON UNDERGROUND AND NORTHERN IRELAND RAILWAYS INFRASTRUCTURE DURING MAY 2018; COMPILED BY MARTYN BRAILSFORD OF THE BRANCH LINE SOCIETY (WWW.BRANCHLINE.UK).

May saw the energisation of overhead lines to Blackpool, further lines in the Lowlands of Scotland, the Crossrail tunnels through Central London and those on the Great Western scheme to beyond Swindon. Resignalling continued apace with more transfers to Manchester ROC (Blackpool and Runcorn), West Midlands Signalling Centre (Hampton-in-Arden to Proof House) and Three Bridges ROC (Lewisham Area), with track work ongoing at Bradford and Gilberdyke, both of which will be re-controlled to York ROC later on.
