In time even the most successful product platforms need changing. So it is for Siemens Mobility’s high-speed offering; four generations of the manufacturer’s Velaro are now in service, including on Eurostar services between London and continental Europe, where the trains are branded by the operator as ‘e320’. Velaros have been in service since 2006, and in addition to the Eurostar fleet are currently operating in Germany, Spain, China, Russia and Turkey, together covering one million kilometres a day.
