Crossrail Update

Work continues to prepare for the scheduled Crossrail stage two opening in May 2018 when train operator MTR Crossrail is due to start running services between Paddington and Heathrow Airport. But concerns remain about whether infrastructure and train control systems will be ready in time to allow Class 360/2s to be replaced by Class 345s. On 12 December TfL’s Programmes and Investment Committee considered Elizabeth Line progress. From the information published after that meeting we know that commissioning dates ahead of the May 2018 stage two launch are getting tighter. Network Rail expects to complete necessary work to extend the bay platform at Hayes & Harlington in April, just a month before.
