Aberdeen-Inverness closure for station works

Platform works at the new Inverness Airport station, which opens in December.

The Aberdeen-Inverness line is to close from 9 July to 11 July for construction work at the Inverness Airport station in Dalcross to take place.

Construction of new platforms, creation of footbridge foundations and works on the access road and car park at the £14m station east of Inverness have already taken place. During the 54-hour blockade, a masonry road bridge east of the station site will take place, along with drainage installation, platform works, and welding and stressing of the double-track passing loop through the station.

It is due to open in December, with step-free access via lifts, a 64-space car park and cycle parking. In addition to serving Inverness Airport, the station will also serve the new Tornagrain.

Buses will replace trains between Inverness and Elgin, with buses also running to Nairn, from where trains will run to and from Aberdeen.
