Women in Rail Awards winners announced as Big Rail Diversity Challenge goes online

With in-person events not practical this year, two key events in the Women in Rail calendar went digital during September. On 22 September the UK rail industry flooded social media to celebrate the winners of the third annual Women in Rail Awards, while just under two weeks earlier the fifth Big Rail Diversity Challenge took place in an online format.

The Women in Rail Awards celebrate everyone in UK rail, men and women, teams and companies, who are working hard to promote gender balance, equality and diversity in the rail workforce and to create a more inclusive work culture in our sector. This year over 300 entries were received from a wide range of individuals, teams and companies in the railway industry across nine awards categories. The calibre of the men, women, teams and companies nominated were again exceptional this year, creating a challenging task for the judges to establish shortlists and select the winners.
