Birmingham City Council has granted planning permission for two new viaducts which will take High Speed 2 (HS2) into the city centre and Curzon Street station.

Curzon Viaduct No. 3 and Lawley Middleway Viaduct are part of the Curzon Street station approach area, which is made up of four structures between Duddeston Junction viaduct and HS2’s new station.

The other two are Curzon Street Nos 1 and 2 viaducts furthest away from the station which are currently in the planning application stage.

A design joint venture of Mott MacDonald and Systra and architect Weston Williamson + Partners is designing the viaducts for HS2 civils contractor Balfour Beatty VINCI joint venture.
