Levenmouth link track laying completed

Transport Minister Fiona Hyslop and Scotland's Railway Managing Director Alex Hynes mark completion of track laying on the Levenmouth Rail Link.

Track laying on the five-mile-long, £116 million Levenmouth Rail Link was completed on 25 August, with Scottish Transport Minister Fiona Hyslop installing the final rail clip.

Construction of the project began in March 2022 and will connect Leven with Thornton Junction on the East Coast main line north of Edinburgh for the first time in half a century. Two stations are being built – the intermediate facility at Cameron Bridge and a terminus at Leven. The railway will be electrified.

With track laying complete, attention now turns to completion of the stations ahead of the start of services in 2024.
